Job Description
Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, Perform preventive maintenance, Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes, Load and unload goods, Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle, Receive and relay information to central dispatch, Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
Must be proficient in these skills:
Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service, Address customers’ complaints or concerns, Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques.
Documentation Knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Trip reports, Trans-border documentation, Dangerous goods occurrence reports, Maintenance and repair reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook.
Communication Systems Experience: Citizens band (CB) radio, Trip recorder (on-board computer), Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs.)
Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Hard hat, Steel-toed safety boots, Cellular phone.
Security and Safety: Valid passport, Basic security clearance, medical exam, Bondable, Criminal record check, Drug test, Driver’s validity license check, Driving record check (abstract).
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Sitting, handling heavy loads, large workload, physically demanding, Attention to detail.
Work Location Information: Various locations, Remote location, Relocation costs not covered by employer

Extended length tractor-trailer combination, Flatbed, Tractor-trailer B train
Certificates / Licences:
Class 1/1F/A License (semi-trailer trucks), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, AZ class license, Air Brakes Endorsement.
Personal Qualities:
Personal Suitability: Excellent oral communication, Effective interpersonal skills, Organized, Team player, Excellent written communication, Flexibility, Judgement, Reliability.
Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s license, Willing to travel for extended periods, Drive manual transmission vehicle, Willing to travel internationally, Willing to travel overnight, Willing to travel cross-border.
